Nunley's was an amusement park designed for especially young children. HISTORY It was located on Sunrise Highway in Baldwin, New York from 1939 until it closed in 1995 . It was home to a Ferris Wheel , Miniature Golf , a child-sized Roller Coaster , and the famous Nunley's Carousel . The site is now home to a Pep Boys auotmobile service station. NUNLEY'S CAROUSEL It was part of the toddler-oriented Nunley's Amusement Park in Baldwin, New York . The merry-go-round is was made in 1912 by Stein & Goldstein and was moved from Brooklyn to Nunley's. When the Nunley's closed, the carousel was stored in a hangar in Mitchel Field . It stll sits in the hangar today next to the Cradle Of Aviation aviation museum. Long Island songwriter Billy Joel wrote a waltz as a tribute to the beloved attraction. CAROUSEL REFURBISHING There has been an attempt by several local schools to refurbish the carousel from Nunley's that has been in storage for over ten years. REFERENCES EXTERNAL LINKS
