Nuneaton is a Constituency represented in the House Of Commons of the Parliament Of The United Kingdom . It elects one Member Of Parliament (MP) by the First Past The Post system of election.


BOUNDARIES


This constituency covers the town of Nuneaton in Warwickshire , covering most of the borough of Nuneaton And Bedworth (excluding the town of Bedworth ). It also contains much of the surrounding area, covering the northern part of the Rugby district. As well as Nuneaton, the constituency contains the villages of Ansty , Brinklow , Bulkington and Stretton-under-Fosse .


HISTORY


A seat with a strong industrial and mining tradition, Nuneaton was held by the Labour Party for nearly 50 years until they lost it to the Conservatives in their heavy defeat in the 1983 General Election .

Labour regained the constituency at the 1992 Election , with Bill Olner beating the incumbent Conservative Lewis Stevens , and have held it since then.
