ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Route 2 begins at the base of the A. Murray MacKay Bridge in the north end of Halifax . The route takes the Bedford Highway, which follows the western shore of the Bedford Basin , to the community of Bedford . From there, Route 2 veers northeast through the suburbs of Waverley , Fall River and Enfield , where it crosses the Shubenacadie River . The highway follows the river's west bank to the village of Shubenacadie , then continues northeast through Stewiacke and Brookfield to Truro .

Route 2 leaves Truro to the west, crossing the Salmon River on Highway 102 . The route continues west along the Glooscap Trail , following the north shore of Cobequid Bay through several small villages to the town of Parrsboro . It then turns north through the Cobequid Mountains , along the west bank of River Hebert before turning northeast to reach the Southampton River , which Route 2 follows to the town of Springhill . Route 2 turns northwest from Springhill to Amherst, where it ends at Highway 104 exit 2.
