The Northern Ireland Women's Coalition is a non-sectarian political party in Northern Ireland . It was founded 1996 with two delegates being elected to the multi-party talks. It supports the Belfast Agreement and is strongly opposed to sectarian violence from both sides. The party claims credit for the inclusion of a commitment to integrated education in the Belfast Agreement . In the Northern Ireland Assembly elections of 1998 , two of its members were returned - Monica McWilliams and Jane Morrice , representing South Belfast and North Down respectively. McWilliams, who is also leader and founder of the party, stood as a candidate in the Westminster elections in 2001 , and came a respectable third. The party does not take a position on whether Northern Ireland should be part of the United Kingdom or the Republic Of Ireland . It has attracted support from former supporters of the Alliance Party Of Northern Ireland , but also the Social Democratic And Labour Party and the Ulster Unionist Party . Both its MLAs lost their seats in the Northern Ireland Assembly Elections, 2003 and its final remaining elected representative lost her seat on North Down council in 2005.
