Information About

Northern Busway, Brisbane

''This article is about Brisbane's proposed Northern Busway. A 'Northern Busway' is also under construction in the north of Auckland, New Zealand, linking the city of North Shore City with the Auckland CBD, to be fully operational by mid 2008.''

The Northern Busway is a bus-only corridor intended to run between the Royal Brisbane And Women's Hospital , Chermside and Aspley , on the northside of Brisbane , Queensland , Australia . A busway is a dedicated roadway for buses, allowing them to bypass peak-hour congestion.

The busway is intended to run via Lutwyche and Gympie Roads in a grade separated corridor. Potential stations have yet to be finalised. It will form an extension to the existing Inner-Northern Busway , with connections to the South-East Busway and Eastern Busway Busways and the CityTrain network. It may be integrated with the Airport Link project, a new underground road to Brisbane Airport .

On Tuesday 23 August 2005, TransLink issued preliminary information about the Northern Busway on its website. On 13 March 2006, the preliminary concept designs for the Herston to Kedron section of the busway were released, showing potential stations at the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital (RBWH), Windsor, Albion Road, Lutwyche and Kedron. The majority of the busway is tunneled or bridged over Kedron Road, with some minor above ground sections. Concept planning north of Kedron continues.
