The Northern Beaches of Sydney is an informal term for the eastern part of northern suburbs of Sydney located near the coast of the Pacific Ocean . This area extends north of the entrance of Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour) and east of Middle Harbour to the entrance of Broken Bay . The Northern Beaches district includes the local government areas of Manly , Warringah and Pittwater . The suburbs of the Northern Beaches district include Manly , Fairlight , Seaforth , Clontarf and Balgowlah in the Manly local government area; Belrose , Brookvale , Harbord , Curl Curl , Forestville , Killarney Heights , Davidson , Dee Why , Frenchs Forest , Manly Vale , Narraweena , Beacon Hill , Cromer , Collaroy and Narrabeen in the Warringah local government area; North Narrabeen , Warriewood , Elanora , Ingleside , Mona Vale , Bayview , Church Point , Newport , Bilgola Plateau , Avalon , Clareville , Whale Beach and Palm Beach in the Pittwater local government area.
