GOVERNOR'S MANSION The original governor's mansion was built in 1884 as private home for Asa Fisher . In 1893 the house was sold to the state for $5000. The house was used as the governor's residence from 1893-1960, and was the home to 21 governors. In 1975 the house was donated to the State Historical Society Of North Dakota and was renovated to look like it did in 1884. CURRENT GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE In 1955 The North Dakota legislature approved for a new 10,000 sq. ft. governors residence to be built because current governor C. Norman Brunsdale was living in a hotel during the winter because the governor's mansion was too cold. The residence was built in 1959 and completed in 1960 . In 2000 a complete remodel of most of the home was done. EXTERNAL LINKS |
