TERMINI


NC 3's northern terminus is at NC 150 in southern Mooresville. This is next door to I-77 at around exit 35. After meandering through and switching roads multiple times, NC 3 slowly meets it's southern termini just north of Concord . It is at US 601 / NC 73 Truck .


HISTORICAL INFO


  • 1934 - NC 3 is born, going a whole mile and a half to the Atlantic Ocean coastline in the northeast part of the state.




  • October 23 , 2002 - Governor Mike Easley signed into law a bill officially reassigning NC 136 to NC 3's current route and visa versa. NC 3 was moved because it was the hometown of the afore mentioned Earnhardt, who drove the #3 Goodwrench Chevy and grew up in the Mooresville vicinity. 136 follows NC 3 old route.
