Information About

North Carolina Bike Route 4

North Carolina Bicycle Route 4, the ''North Line Trace''. Running east-west just south of the Virginia border all the way from the mountains to the coast, this 400-mile route gives you access to six state parks and several other recreation areas. You'll be able to explore areas such as Stone Mountain State Park , Pilot Mountain State Park and Hanging Rock State Park , Hyco Reservoir , Kerr Lake and Lake Gaston Recreation Areas, Merchants Millpond State Park , and the Dismal Swamp and Currituck Sound areas. Campgrounds are spaced up to 75 miles apart and motels are scarce, so be prepared for some long days. Near the coast it connects with North Carolina Bicycle Route 3 , the ''Ports of Call'' route.

This is one of nine bicycle routes designated, signed and mapped by the North Carolina Department of Transportation Bicycle and Pedestrian Division.
