Founded in 1961, NAFA is a non-profit organization largely dedicated to enhancing falconry in North America via improved communication among falconers, promotion and funding scientific studies about raptors (birds of prey), conservation of raptors, protection of the sport of falconry from harmful legislation, and preservation and establishment of traditions and ethics that help to maintain raptors, falconry, and the environment and game use by falconers. NAFA hosts an annual event for falconers to get together once a year. The location varies (generally tending to be in the Western half of the US), but is generally held in late November.
