After his retirement from Congress, President Bill Clinton appointed him as the chairman of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and he was subsequently unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate . For seven years as chairman of NCUA, he managed this federal government agency with oversight over eleven thousand institutions managing $400 billion in assets. D'Amours had also served as assistant attorney general for the state of New Hampshire. Prior to his government service, D'Amours was a practicing attorney in New Hampshire. |
