Inside one of the buildings, students from all over Norfolk County submit their artwork (usually something simple like '' Lego '' art or childlike paintings) and they are evaluated by the judges. The top prize winners receive a monetary cash prize to be spent on anything that the child wants. During the day, Bees are abundant on the fairgrounds, but at night, they are virtually absent on cooler nights. Traditionally, school children are given one day off from school to enjoy ''Young Canada Day'' at the fair while they receive free coupons for rides that are appropriate for their height and age level. And while the festivities of the fair are occuring, the ''Simcoe Recreation Center'' is temporarily closed to provide exhibition space for local items of artistic value. During the nighttime, various music bands (usually dealing in Country Music ) would perform and the crowd is usually packed. Notable bands to perform during the festivities include Emerson Drive and Ronnie Hawkins . |
