Norfolk Academy




Traditionally, 100 percent of Norfolk Academy graduates attend college. Most go to in-state schools such as the University Of Virginia and the College Of William And Mary . The class of 2005 earned an average SAT score of 1311 (Verbal 653, Math 658).

Norfolk Academy offers several fine arts programs, which include the Winter Musical, a popular event for the Hampton Roads community. Recently, the Tucker Arts Center, named after past headmaster John H. Tucker Jr., was opened. It contains the new Johnson Theater as well. The school has two libraries: the Cooper Library serves grades 1–6, and the Batten Library serves grades 7–12. Both libraries offer extensive print and digital collections to their users.

Norfolk Academy also fosters several competitive sports programs. The school competes in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS) along with Cape Henry Collegiate School , Catholic High School, Greenbrier Christian Academy, Hampton Roads Academy, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, Norfolk Christian School, Norfolk Collegiate School , Peninsula Catholic High School, and Walsingham Academy. Additionally, males compete in the Virginia Preparatory League (VPL) and females in the League of Independent Schools (LIS).

Norfolk Academy has an Honor Code whereby all in the community pledge not to lie, cheat, or steal. This includes the following signed statement at the end of each graded assignment: "I have acted honorably in the completion of this assignment."

The school's mascot is the Bulldog .
