1992 as a joint partnership between Continental Cablevision (now part of
Comcast ) and the
Hearst Corporation , New England Cable News can be seen throughout New England and provides several original programs.
NECN is known for employing some of the elder statesmen of the Boston TV news market, including
R.D. Sahl ,
Tom Ellis , and
Chet Curtis , as well as being a training ground for local news reporters.
In addition to its cable operations, it has also produced ten o'clock newscasts for
WFXT (the original
Fox 25 News at Ten,
1993 -
95 ) and
WSBK-TV (
UPN 38 Prime News,
1995 -
98 , with intermission updates on
Boston Bruins games continuing for a time afterward
{Link without Title} ), both were cancelled by station management. Currently, NECN assists in the production of Worcester News Tonight, an evening newscast airing on Worcester, MA's WCTR-3 Cable Channel.
