GEOGRAPHY Naples is located at 33°12'11" North, 94°40'44" West (33.202983, -94.679006). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 6.2 Km&2 (2.4 Mi&2 ). 6.1 km&2 (2.4 mi&2) of it is land and 0.1 km&2 (0.04 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 99.16% land. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 1,410 people, 625 households, and 388 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 229.7/km&2 (595.4/mi&2). There were 732 housing units at an average density of 119.3/km&2 (309.1/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 64.11% White , 33.83% African American , 0.64% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.50% from Other Races , and 0.92% from two or more races. 0.57% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 625 households out of which 24.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.7% were Married Couples living together, 14.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% were non-families. 36.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.92. In the city the population was spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 21.4% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.0 males. The median income for a household in the city was $22,986, and the median income for a family was $27,788. Males had a median income of $28,750 versus $16,667 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $15,845. 28.3% of the population and 24.4% of families were below the Poverty Line . 41.3% of those under the age of 18 and 21.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
