Typically a music booking agent is a person or a person within an agency that is responsible for "booking " the band or bands that they represent. Booking gigs refers to paying and promotional appearances. Most if not all booking agents work on a percentage basis. The range is typically 10% to 20% of the gross paid to the band and should never be more than 20%. A decent booking agent should be able to provide the following. Signed contracts. 16 or more routable dates per month. Often times young bands use a booking agent as both their booking source and as a defacto manager. |
