Tijuana is a Municipality in the Mexican State of Baja California . Its municipal seat is located in the city of Tijuana . According to the 2000 census, it had a population of 1,210,820 inhabitants. Jorge Hank Rhon of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) is the Municipal President for the term 2004 - 2007 . Tijuana is bordered by the municipalities of Playas De Rosarito and Ensenada ; to the east, by the municipality of Tecate ; and to the west, by the Pacific Ocean . The municipality of Tijuana has an extension of 1,727 square kilometers and includes part of the Coronado Islands located off the coast of the municipality in the Pacific Ocean. |
