Multiple Endings

Multiple endings has a number of different connotations, depending on the medium. For example, in a movie or television context, a plot may unfold per the script which points in a certain direction, but can "branch out" in a number of different directions; the 1985 movie " Clue ", for example, had a standard murder-mystery plot as suspects were added and eliminated, until the end where the killer was revealed--in this case, due to the varied nature of the board game, a number of endings depicting various characters as the murderer were filmed and were shown, one after the other, leaving the audience to decide which one they preferred. In addition, the term "multiple endings" can refer to a film or TV show which has a number of Sub-plots ; at the conclusion of the main plot, short scenes describing how these "loose ends" were tied up can be shown, so after the movie has ended, it ends again, and again, and again.

"Multiple endings" can also refer to certain Video Games in which the actions a character takes throughout the story dictate how the game ends. The game Clock Tower for the Super Famicom is one example; depending on where the player goes and what methods are used for escape, they may escape by themselves, or with other members of the original party. Another example is the upcoming game Shadow The Hedgehog ; siding with a particular faction and performing deeds for them will determine the ending--good, evil, or neutral. "Multiple endings" are also present in the Video Game Chrono Trigger . Different endings could be obtained depending on how far the player was in the game when he/she faced the final boss, thus, Chrono Trigger had a over a dozen endings.
