|
He received his primary education from a local religious teacher. After the early death of his father, his mother left for Kabul (the capital of Afghanistan) with her son (Gharjistani) where she earned her living as a cloth washerwoman. Against the wish of her family she sent Gharjistani to School to get further education. Due to his early interest for the ethnic Hazara people, Gharjistani was dismissed from School for several years. He earned his living as a shopkeeper, however at the same time he was politically active. After the putsch in 1978 he went under ground. In1979 he joined the resistance in his homeland (Hazarajat). The internal conflicts between the different resistant groups emerged soon after the Soviet Union war. After the invasion of Russia, he was compelled to live for exile in Pakistan (Quetta City). Gharjistani has written 24 Books on Hazara Nation and Almost 300 Articles broadcasted by himself on Radio Pakistan Quetta. In 1985 he opened the Shora-e-Farhangi Islami Afghanistan in the same city. He also opened the Afghan Refuge Camps of Punjpai and Surkhab. The Aim of these camps was to unite all Dari Language speakers (Hazara, Tajik & Uzbek). In1987 he was invited to Oxford University London for five days Seminar on Afghanistan Ethnic Groups as a leader from Hazara Ethnic. During his journey he introduced Hazara Nation’s activities in the war against Russia. In 1991 Gharjistani was invited to Iran for a discussion with Iranian Ministers where he played a vital role in supporting Hazara Nation. During the same year he traveled to Hazarajat and Punjsher (in Afghanistan) where he met Ahmed Shah Masood & Sibathullah Mujaddadi to discuss about the unity of Dari Language Ethnic Groups of Afghanistan. His very next discussion regarding the same issue was accomplished in a meeting with the Hazara leaders (Sheikh Akbari, Natiqi & Abuzar Ghafari). Gharjistani was running a magazine with the name of “Nidai Khurasan” till 19 editions. In 1992 after the invasion of Kabul by Mujaheedin (the leaders who fought against Russia in Afghanistan) he went to Kabul and met Baba Abdul Ali Mazari and the Leaders of Uzbek, Tajiks and Hazara Ethnics. Due to his extra ordinary thinking in political matters and dedication Professor Mohammad Essa Gharjistani became popular in Afghanistan. Besides his other successful steps, he established an office for “shora-e-farhangi Islami” in Kabul. The aim of the Kabul office was to bring awareness in Hazara people about their rights and to make them understand about how they can get their rights. Gharjistani struggled for the rights of Hazara Nation in Afghanistan for 42 years. He suffered but kept going on till he disappeared. In early 1990s he got Martyred in Kabul by the enemies of freedom of speech and education. Unfortunately his last resting place has never been discovered yet. May Allah be pleased with him and bless him.
