Mountain Gap Middle School is a public Middle School in Huntsville, Alabama . BUILDING The school building is an "L" shape, with the track to the west side, and the Elementary School building to the north connected to the middle school building by two hallways inside. The main doors are on the south side of the building, with two other entrances for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The carpool area is in a "U" shape with the parking lot in the center with five rows of spots. Outside the main doors there is a small fenced courtyard with a memorial in the center. Two trash cans are located at corners of the courtyard. 6th grade students sit on a bench while waiting for the 7:50 bell, and sit there also for waiting to be picked up. The 7th and 8th graders stand while waiting for the same bell. HALLWAYS/ROOMS There are two stories of classrooms, each story containing fourteen 30x30 foot rooms. Each rooms has about 15 or more desks, a teachers desk, educational posters, computers, chalkboards, AC unit, cabinets, shelves, etc. Every room has at least one network port on the wall connecting to the main network. The computer lab has been upgraded to computers running Microsoft Windows XP , but many rooms are still running Windows 95 or Windows 98 . The science lab is like all the other rooms, except containing a rack of labcoats and the vials, beakers, and other tools around the room. Most rooms now use Whiteboards , but Chalkboards are also used throughout the school and are not likely to disappear for a while. The Gym is very large, containing fold-out Bleachers and a Stage . The boys Locker Room is a Basement area, one story under the main level, containing 250 small red lockers. There is an office and bathroom in the locker room. Beside the gym is the Choral room containing two smaller rooms; an office and a storage room. Beside the choral room is four Vending Machines (two snack, two drink) and another drink machine closer to the main entrance. The main foyer is the central hub of the school. Six main passages go to certain areas. West Wing: Choral, PE, Locker rooms, Stage, Vending, PE storage. East Wing: Counseling center, Copy room, basement, elevator, 6/7th grade hall. Upper East Wing: 8th grade hall, Computer lab, Science lab, AMSTI lab. North-West Wing: Band room, FACS room, Tech Ed. room. Art room, Special Ed. rooms.
