  • Dependent on motorcycle manufacturer - Clubs with open membership, often associated with motorcycle manufacturers (such as Harley Davidson's HOG )

  • Related to safety and awareness - such as the AMA and it's smaller member organizations

ACTIVITIES

Some clubs organize a Motorcycle Rally or a Motorcycle Run to Raise Funds for Charitable causes. Popular activities include Poker Runs and Raffles .

Traditional motorcycle rallies have started to draw big crowds. The top three in the US are Sturgis Motorcycle Rally , Laconia Motorcycle Week and Daytona Beach Bike Week .

Rules of membership differ between clubs. Some clubs accept anybody that pays the membership fees and abides by the club bylaws. Other clubs are invitation only, requiring a new member (a prospect) to participate for a set period of time before gaining full membership. Full membership is sometimes recongnized by a pin, a badge, or a patch (sometimes referred to as a group's "colors") applied to the new member's jacket.

The general public's perception of motorcycle clubs is often colored by the unfavorable portayal of outlaw Motorcycle Gang s on Television and in Movies .
