Moscow Aviation Institute (State University of Aerospace Technology) (), named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze , is one of several major engineering higher education establishments in Moscow (along with Moscow State University , Moscow Institute Of Physics And Technology , and Moscow Engineering Physics Institute ). Although the school is currently offering a wide range of majors and research programs well beyond just the Aviation -related ones, the historical shorter name ''Moscow Aviation Institute'' is almost always used in reference to it. HISTORY The university was formed from the aviation mechanics department of another major engineering education center, BMSTU , on August 29, 1930. The main campus at the present location was established in 1933. Over the years, the school grew to become the top Russian aerospace education center, and a full-range engineering university, which was reflected in its current full official name. EXTERNAL LINKS |
