Morton Brilliant was the initial Campaign Manager for Democrat Cathy Cox 's 2006 Gubernatorial Campaign in Georgia . He was involved in the Washington State Gubernatorial Race , which swung from Republican Dino Rossi to Democrat Christine Gregoire on the third recount. He was also deputy campaign manager for Jim Hodges ' successful South Carolina governor's race in 1998 , and worked as Hodges' Deputy Chief of Staff. Before that, he was a political director at the South Carolina Democratic Party. He went to George Washington School Of Law . WIKIPEDIA CONTROVERSY

Brilliant resigned as campaign manager for Secretary Of State Cathy Cox on April 26 , 2006 amid allegations that he altered Wikipedia 's online biography of her Democratic opponent to add a mention of his son's arrest in a fatal drunk driving accident. Cox said an internal investigation confirmed that the posting about her opponent, Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor , on Wikipedia came from within her gubernatorial Campaign . ''My campaign manager Morton Brilliant, who is responsible for all the work in my office, has offered me his resignation and I have accepted it,'' Cox said in a statement. Macon.com article ''Cox campaign manager resigns'' by Shannon McCaffrey for Associated Press "The Taylor campaign had provided documents showing that the same online server that revised Taylor's profile also tinkered with biographies on races in Washington state and South Carolina. Also, according to The ''Seattle Times'', "An Internet address registered to Brilliant was also used to make changes last year to an online biography of Republican Dino Rossi, Gregoire's opponent in 2004. The address also was used to edit the biography of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, another Republican Brilliant has campaigned against. In each case, the alterations added links to newspaper stories that revealed negative or embarrassing information about the politicians. The changes to all three of the Wikipedia profiles were made last November. In Rossi's case, the changes came more than a year after the election."
