Album cover of ''Modern Dances'' Modern Dances is an album by Jandek (1987); Corwood Industries release #0752. TRACK LISTING: #''Painted My Teeth'' #''Twelve Minutes Since February 32nd'' #''Hand for Harry Idle'' #''Number 512'' #''Nothing is Better Than God'' #''Spiritual Song'' #''Spanish in Me 003'' #''I Want to Know Why'' #''Simple as That'' #''Open E'' #''Carnival Queen'' ALBUM COVER DESCRIPTION Shaggy haired and sinewy Jandek looks to our right in the right 1/4 of the frame. A featureless brick wall dominates the left 3/4. To the right of Jandek is the glint of some sort of machine... (a tractor?). The lower part of the right side of the frame is a four-slat fence (very similar, possibly identical, to the fencing around the garden in the Telegraph Melts album cover). A large, featureless brick wall in Jandek's neighborhood? Where would that be? Perhaps related to the cement pediment in the lower right corner of Telegraph Melts . QUOTE "It’s tempting to ‘genericize’ these reviews of Sir Jandek: LP #14, eleven songs, B&W cover (I think I’m up for another color job), etc., but there’s enough new excitement here to keep me going for a lifetime." – Jimmy Johnson, ''Forced Exposure'' #12 EXTERNAL LINKS |
