ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Military College of Engineering, Risalpur, is one of pakistan's premier civil engineering institutes, and is one of many educational institutues that come under the umbrella of National University Of Science And Technology NUST. Its students, upon graduation, are hired by some of the finest construction and engineering firm in Pakistan, and the world.
The college has affiliations with some of the finest research institutes in the world, that include CERN , and major North American, and Asia Pacific universities
A lot of the academically achieved students are sent abroad on scholarships to prestegious universities across the world


LOCATION

The College is located in Risalpur , in the NWFP , province in Pakistan, and is located right next to Pakistan Air Force Academy .
Its located 5km from Nowshera and 30km from Peshawar which is Pakistan's 6th largest city.
The remote location of the college as often posed a lot of problems for the students, since not many shops are located nearby, and cellular phone signals are also pretty weak in the region.


GRADING SYSTEM

The college, like all constituent colleges of NUST, follow the US semester system, in which a GPA of 2.00 or more is required to stay in the college, if the GPA falls below 2.00 the students get demoted to the previous semester and is put under probation, and if his GPA still doesn't improve, then the students is expelled from the colle


STUDENT CATEGORIES

NC (NUST cadet) Civilian students selected through the NUST entrance test, join the university as NCs, and are required to pay the full fees and not are not required to undergo any sort of military training, as they are paying, civilian students

PC (paying cadet) Students who's parents were or still are members of Pakistan Army, can join the college at a reduced cost as civilan students, and not required to undergo any sort of military training

TC (technical cadet) Students who are enrolled in Pakistan Army. The enter the college after qualifying the ISSB armed forces selection test. Upon graduation from the college, the students spend 2 years at the Pakistan Military Academy to receive officer ranks. TCs don't pay any fees, and undergo strict military training


DISCIPLINE

Since its a military college, the college has a strict discipline policy, which includes uniform inspection every day, course drills and fall ins twice a day, compulsury sports, and military protocols.


MISINFORMATION AND MISTREATMENT OF STUDENTS

The college says in the NUST prospectus that civilian students are not required to undergo any sort of military training, but once in the college, they are required to cut their hair in the military style, they have to undergo rigorous exercises, they have to obey military protocol. Failure to comply with these rules affects the students academically. The heads of the colleges are also unpopular due to their two faced scheming ways. The heads often use students to spy on other students. Freshmen are often humiliated and degraded by the seniors in a ritual known as "ragging", which often continues for months, and disobeying a senior is a major offence. A lot of students have left the college due to humiliation and degradation due to ragging. When parents complain to to the head of the college about the harsh discipline policy and ragging at the hands of seniors, they too are humiliated by the heads.


STUDENT/FACULTY CONFLICT

Since most of the instrustors and lecturers at the college are Army officers, its is advisable not to engage in any sort of conflict with them, as that might result in the lecturer having a vendetta against that student. This has often led to many students being expelled or demoted
