Mexico U-17 Championship Victory




The under-17 area of Mexico's football squad are perhaps most famous for their victory at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship , beating favourites Brazil comprehensively by 3 goals to nil. Goals from Carlos Vela, Omar Esparza and Ever Guzman secured the trophy as the 2003 tournament winners were humbled.

The Mexican football team have a long and detailed history, but the success at the U-17 championship secured the team's first ever FIFA trophy. As well as this, two of Mexico's stand-out players were rewarded for their performances, with Giovani Dos Santos being awarded the silver ball as 2nd best player of the tournament and Carlos Vela the golden boot as the top scorer of the competition.
