Information About

Metal Halide Lamp

Metal halide lamps sometimes have the tendency to explode at the end of life. This has led to development of so-called open-fixture lamps, where some means of protection is offered from breakage of outer jacket. Two popular methods include using a glass shroud around the arc tube and using a Teflon coating on the outer jacket.

In general, metal halide lamps have better color rendering than High Pressure Sodium Lamp s and better efficacy than High Pressure Mercury Lamp s. Compared to Fluorescent Lamp s, they are less affected by change in ambient temperature.
