The school district is made up of three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school (with an alternative branch):

# Elementary Schools:

The city of Mercer Island, Washington , is on a lake between Seattle, Washington , and the eastside (including Bellevue, Washington ). It has about 22,000 residents.


MERCER ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL


Mercer Island High School (MIHS) is well known for its quality. Often regarded as the top public high school in the State of Washington, MIHS has been nominated to be a 2006 Blue Ribbon School . Also, the Seattle Times ranks MIHS as the best public high school for college preparation {Link without Title} .

In addition to featuring the highest – Washington Assessment of Student Learning). More than 95% of graduates pursue higher education.

MIHS features a wide range of special ed, regular, advanced, honors, and AP Classes . MIHS is also well regarded for its arts programs. In 2006, the MIHS band was invited and played in the Rose Bowl Parade .

MIHS sports teams often excel with state championship banners for boys' and girls' tennis, boys' and girls' swimming, boys' and girls' water polo, and a number of other sports.

In 2005 and 2006, MIHS won state championships in boys swimming, lacrosse, girls tennis, boys and girls water polo, and chess.
