Medieval Satanism worships Satan as a divine entity. However, they do not view Satan as the Christian evil. Satan is no devil. Satan, when he appears,is typically in a human-like form, though there may be an aura around him,or something else to show his divine nature. A Medieval Satanist worships Satan as a God himself, opposing '''Yahweh'''(the official name for the Christian god),not because of the God VS. Satan idealogy typical of any "white-light" religion, but because he happens,by pure coincidence,to embody much things they are against(hypocrisy,self-denial,repression of natural instinct, etcetera). This view of Satan as the true God can,for the most part,be used interchangeably to describe the type of Satanic worship that was quite common in the '''Pre-Christianity''' era, hence it sometimes being called '''"Old-World" Satanism''' SATAN Satan was worshipped as an "All-Father(the title given to Odin in Norse mythology)" of sorts, the most powerful, and most worshipped,of all the Gods. OTHER HIGH GODS Lucifer was seen, not as a fallen angel, but an earthly form of Satan, meaning that when Satan chose to manifest himself physically,he took the name of Lucifer among mortals. Lucifer was also seen, occasionally,as a God Of War ,to whom the people would turn for strength in combat. Belial was seen as a God of the Earth, meaning that earthquakes, crop harvests, draughts, etc.,all came from this God. Leviathan was the God considered responsible for hurricanes, floods, great storms, tornados, rain, snow, and most other rain/wind/ice-related weather. HIGH GODS AND SATAN Many practitioners tend to see Satan as the one God,attributing the tasks and qualities of the other High Gods to Satan himself, and referring to the Lesser Gods simply as demons. Though this eliminates the other 3 High Gods and makes the mythology less interesting to researchers, this is the typical meaning of Medieval Satanism, though a minority do use the High Gods in their worship. LESSER GODS The Lesser Gods were,in this worship, ancient Demons ,though the term "demon",in this context, does not refer to an evil entity, but a god of low rank,Satan being the highest of the Gods, similar to the way Zeus ruled over the other gods in Greek Mythology . SATAN AND SIN The 7 Deadly Sins of Catholicism are,in fact, encouraged by Satan,as they are all human nature, and lead to self-satisfaction. Pride,Greed,& Envy,3 of the "sins",collectively, give ambition, without which, nothing is ever accomplished. Greed, wanting things for yourself(Thomas Edison wanted better lighting, thus the lightbulb was born). Envy, wanting something others have, but you don't have. This leads,in sensible people,to working hard to obtain what you want. Gluttony, eating more than you require to survive, and ONLY survive. This "sin" leads to the satisfaction of a full stomach and a delicious feast. Pride, the need to have a great sense of self. This will lead to the individual working to regain a respectable image,if they indulge too greatly in Gluttony. Wrath, otherwise known as Anger. This leads to the satisfaction of crushing enemies, and generally just letting off some steam. Also,it's human nature and,as such, unavoidable. Lust, sexual desire. This leads to the satisfaction of fleshly pleasures,as well as reproduction of the species. Sloth, otherwise known as Laziness. This serves no real purpose in the article, other to complete the list. WORSHIP Medieval Satanists do not pray. They don't need to. Satan wants them to use their own resources, not to come crawling to him for the simplest things. There are those who,in war,may pray to have their enemies defeated. A Satanist, however, will not pray, but instead increase his skills so that he might manage to defeat said enemies. Only in truly extreme situations will prayer serve any purpose, and it won't be in any divine battle of Satan getting what you want. Instead,Satan merely gives the means to an end. For example, you pray to defeat a massive enemy force. Satan may intervene, though he won't show himself, and by divine methods, energize the soldiers to do battle with renewed strength and morale, which may be lost immediately after...and it would have to be an extremely serious situation, otherwise he'll leave you to find a solution alone. Also, sacrifice is shunned by Satan. Satan hates sacrifice. However,he does want respect. Sacrifice an animal---Satan hates this. In fact,Satan abhors any idea of this!! Be loysl to Satan and of utmost respect when speaking about,or in impossibly rare cases,to Satan, and he will be pleased. |
