''Math Invaders'' (operating under the catchphrase "Math is your only defense!") is an action-adventure game franchise designed to develop the mathematical skills of 9-14 year-olds. The game is praised for its replayability and integration of a wide range of math-related subjects into fast-paced 3D gameplay. SKILLS DEVELOPED BY GAMEPLAY The subjects covered by the game include:
STORY The story of ''Math Invaders'' takes off as the human-manned star ship S.S. Pythagoras approaches a planet known as Metrion. The inhabitants of this planet are known as the Geometroids and are led by the evil Dodecus, who plans to destroy Earth. The S.S. Pythagoras is attacked by a fleet of Geometroid spacecrafts and all of its crewmembers are captured. Only the security chief of the S.S. Pythagoras manages to avoid abduction, but remains on the now Geometroid-guarded ship alone with only the help of the central computer, whose mathematical computation programs have been deactivated. It remains up to the player, who takes control of the S.S. Pythagoras's security chief, to use his or her math skills to retake control of the ship and ultimately save the Earth from invasion. |
