Eckhart appeared in every episode of Season One, usually to direct a hapless 'Lieutenant' of his to carry out a mission against the Mutant X team - a band of 'superpowered freaks' dedicated to disrupting the operations of Eckhart's Genetic Security agency. Eckhart, who bore an uncanny resemblance to Pop Art guru Andy Warhol , was the series' most eye-catching character. The reasoning behind his pale skin, white wig, and thick glasses was that, at some point in the past, his Immune System had been compromised. This incident - Incident X - was apparently caused by Adam Kane, Eckhart's arch-enemy, and the leader of Mutant X. As a result of Incident X, Eckhart was forced to wear a plastic 'skin' in order to stay alive. At the close of Season One, Eckhart was overthrown, allowing actor Tom McCamus to take on theatrical roles. Eckhart returned in the following two seasons in several different guises (still played by McCamus), but was no longer a main character. LINKS |
