GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 20.6 Km&2 (7.9 Mi&2 ). 18.0 km&2 (6.9 mi&2) of it is land and 2.6 km&2 (1.0 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 12.59% water. Marysville is a small town, with football being it's favorite past-time. Recently a Meijers Shopping Center was built. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 9,684 people, 4,025 households, and 2,741 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 538.8/km&2 (1,395.6/mi&2). There were 4,180 housing units at an average density of 232.6/km&2 (602.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.18% White , 0.18% African American , 0.30% Native American , 0.43% Asian , 0.01% Pacific Islander , 0.33% from Other Races , and 0.57% from two or more races. 1.16% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 4,025 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% were Married Couples living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.9% were non-families. 28.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.96. In the city the population was spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 94.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.2 males. The median income for a household in the city was $49,299, and the median income for a family was $60,028. Males had a median income of $47,859 versus $27,321 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $23,443. 4.6% of the population and 3.1% of families were below the Poverty Line . 5.1% of those under the age of 18 and 8.4% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. |
