8377 North Port Washington Road Fox Point, WI 53217 Principal: Mary Dean MUSIC Maple Dale is also known for its very strong music program. Students can choose to be in either Band or Orchestra. Both subjects not only offer regular classes with group lessons, but also many extra-cirruclar oppurtunities, including Jazz Band, Solo Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Lab and much more. SPORTS The Maple Dale Dragons compete in many sports around the North Shore area. Sports for boys and girls include basketball, volleyball, tennis, softball (girls only), and soccer. ACADEMICS The regular subjects of Math, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, and Reading are taught to all students. Most students study Spanish as well. Students then apply their knowledge by taking the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exams (WKCE). Maple Dale students have scored considerably high over the past years on this exam, most recently with ALL 8th graders in both the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 school year, scoring either proficient or advanced in Social Studies. EXTRA-CIRRICULAR ACTIVITIES Along with sports, Maple Dale offers many exra-cirricular activities, mainly aimed at their older students. Nationally recognized competitions such as Math Counts and the Knowledge Master Open give students the opportunity to showcase their skills around Wisconsin and around the world. The team finished 2nd in Wisconsin. Recently, Maple Dale's MathCounts team finished 1st in Milwaukee and finished 11th in the state Tournament in Madison, WI . Student Council is also offered for grades 5th-8th. Candidates run for office at the beginning of the year, and are elected by their peers. Student Council organizes spirit days, candy sales, and fund-raisers. Community service projects are also set up, including the annual Run-Walk for Cancer (or other diseases), Toys For Tots , and other drives through the Salvation Army Every year, Maple Dale produces a musical. 6th-8th graders practice and perform many plays under professional direction. Here are a list of plays produced the last 4 years: Fiddler On The Roof - 2003 The Wizard Of Oz - 2004 Once Upon A Mattress - 2005 Once On This Island - 2006 FOOD Maple Dale's food is catered by Taher Inc. Taher offers a basic meal with veggies, fruit, and milk for $1.75. Pizza, Burgers, Hot Dogs and more are sold in the Ala Carte section. Many desserts and other healthy snacks are provided.
