The MRT is not to be confused with the Manila Light Rail Transit System , or LRT, which forms a completely different but linked system. The system is operated by the Metro Rail Transit Corporation, a private company operating in conjunction with the Department of Transportation and Communications under a Build-Operate-Transfer scheme. HISTORY STATIONS The following are the stations for the MRT. MRT-3 (Blue Line)
MRT-5 (proposed)
MRT-4 (Red Line, proposed)
FARES The MRT, like the LRT, uses a distance-based fare system, with prices ranging from ten to fifteen pesos. The fare is ten pesos for the first three stations, 11 pesos for 4-5 stations, 12 pesos for 6-8 stations, 14 pesos for 9-11 stations and 15 pesos for 12 stations or the entire line. The MRT also accepts the "Flash Pass", a pass that can be used on this line and the LRT network (LRT-1 and LRT-2). The pass costs 250 pesos and is valid for a week. ERCJ SEE ALSO
