Out of the original 37000 lines of code, Manga Nation has expanded to about 1.3 Million. It has also won multiple awards for its innovative code base. RACES AND CLASSES The Races and Classes of Manga Nation are based upon many Manga, Anime, and Videogames. Once the player reaches certain requirements, their race and class can 'evolve' to become more powerful. For more information on this, see below. Races In total, the races of Manga Nation available at creation include Saiyan , Elf , Drow , Brood (from Breath Of Fire III , Vampire , Cyborg , Dwarf , Nekojin , Human , many forms of Giant (mythology) , and Mystic (based from the Final Fantasy series). Classes In the beginning, a player starts as a Novice. From there, the player chooses the class they wish to persue. This includes a wide range of classes, generally grouped by Magice Users and Melee Classes Treasure Hunter A Thief, but the name is used as an in joke from Final Fantasy VI . Ninja Inspired both by historical Ninja and many fictional Ninja, such as from Naruto (manga) . Martial Artist A player can choose their desired fighting style based in real-life martial art styles, including Jeet Kune Do and Shotokan . Each style affects how the player fights, and how damage is dealt. From here, a player can teach another player different fighting styles. Mecha Pilot Inspired from anime such as the Gundam series and Neon Genesis Evangelion . As of this writing, this class is currently undergoing a complete rewrite. Psionicist A character who uses their mind to affect the world around them, influenced by Dungeons And Dragons and several anime. Ranger A Ranger is a fighter who is in tune with nature. This is inspired by many fantasy sources. Dark Knight From Final Fantasy Tactics , namely the character of Gaff Gafgarion. Lancer From the Final Fantasy Series, a Lancer uses any pole-arm or spear to combat their foes. Samurai Inspired from Historic and Mythic sources. A Samurai can also become in tune with his blade using the Drawout ability, from Final Fantasy Tactics. Knight Inspired from Historic and Mythic sources, NEW IDEAS Manga Nation uses many innovative ideas in MUD design. Evolution During the course of play, a player can 'evolve' upon meeting certain requirements. Speaking of Evolution on public channels is strictly forbidden, because it is mennt to be happened upon and quite the surprise. Zodiac At creation, the character is assigned a Zodiac Sign based off of the in-game calender month. These signs are based off of the western Zodiac , and have bonuses based off that sign. These bonuses, however, are kept secret by the head coder. Treasure Hunting A custom search mechanic is used to help the character find all sorts of interesting items. Everything from Zodiac Stones (inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics that give you an additional bonus if it is your assigned Zodiac Sign), minerals and elements used to forge, or even (inspired from the anime). |
