MESA is the Management and Economics Students' Association (http://www.mesa.ca) at the University of Toronto at Scarborough.

Description:
As one of the leading academic student organizations at the University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC), MESA strives to bridge the gap between students, the Division of Management and the business community. With approximately 800 student members, MESA is one of the largest student-run clubs at Scarborough campus, representing some of the most talented students the university has to offer. As a growing professional organization, MESA takes pride in being able to foster learning and long-term growth through the creation of opportunities. Through our information and career seminars, field specific and networking events, MESA is able to inform and educate students of the important aspects of business.

As the primary voice of undergraduate management students at the University of Toronto at Scarborough, MESA is dedicated to being the best at fostering learning and long-term growth of our students through a host of networking opportunities, career information seminars, and a medium to get involved.

Formal Objectives:
- To create and promote among the members an intelligent interest in all matters pertaining to business
- To develop a mutually beneficial relationship between Management and Economics students and the business and professional community
- To serve as a mutual bond between undergraduate business students and all members of the Division of Management and Economics at the University of Toronto at Scarborough

Career-Building Programs:
''Student Venture Program''
This is a year long contest (October to March) that is open to all students from various programs. Individuals or teams may participate in creating a new venture project. Potential topics include: idea generation (exposing new markets), business plan creation, creative solutions for obstacles common to entrepreneurs, long-term success (instigating change). A panel of judges will evaluate the business plans, where students will have an opportunity to win valuable compensation.

''MESA Business Games''
MESA Business Games was created to help students develop long-term skills beneficial to both their careers and education. By stepping into the skin of organizational decision makers, MBG participants will develop their communication, analytical and time management skills to communicate with team mates, analyze corporate problems, and develop realistic action plans to lead their organization to success.

''Financial Experience''
FinEx is an interactive program for students to learn about the field of finance. As many as 100 participants will compete against one and other in a simulated investment challenge and situation analysis competition. There will also be seminars open to anyone with a general interest. This is an educational and fun opportunity for students to learn and put their investing skills to the test.

''MESA Theatre Productions''
In order to diversify its skills, last year MESA developed an annual play. It gave management and all other students a chance to display their creative talent. Last year?s Cinderella in New York, a romantic fairytale comedy set in the 1930's was well received by students and faculty. This year we hope to continue this tradition with another wonderful performance!
