Information About

Mallaria

In the early 1990s Shahlan ended up playing (first as drummer, then as the vocalist and later as a 2nd guitarist) and recording with Carburetor Dung - one of the oldest Malaysian punk band still existing, while guitarist Ku Yie maintains a rehearsal/jamming studio in the town to this day, helping out young bands with demo recordings and providing space for the scene. Through-out the years he dabbled with bands such as PROV , DPSA and Zink , all of which have a rehearsal/demo recordings or two.

His brother Ku Din , the bassist of the band, briefly reappeared in a popular Malay rock band ( Panji ) in the late 1980s . Mallaria's sound was a mixture of thrash metal/punk crossover and was quite ahead of its time. The highly sought after one and only demo is still missing. Shahlan dropped out of the local punk rock scene back in 1998. Ku Yie is still pretty much involved with his rehearsal studio (MOM Studio) in Kuala Terengganu. He has recently added to the studio recording equipments to help the independent scene there with their own releases.
