Information About

Mallard (band)

In early 1974, after the Clear Spot album and tour, Bill Harkelroad ( Zoot Horn Rollo ), Mark Boston ( Rockette Morton ) and Art Tripp III ( Ed Marimba ) had finally had enough of working with Captain Beefheart. They formed Mallard, with Sam Gilpin on vocals and Rabbit Bundrick on keyboards, releasing their eponymous first album in 1974. John French (Drumbo) was originally involved with the band, and co-wrote some songs. In 1976 they released their second and last album, In a Different Climate. George Dragozola now played drums, with John Thomas on keyboards. Thomas was briefly involved in the Magic Band, and in the early 60's had been in Rattlesnake and Eggs with John French.
Despite the principal member's years together and unique musical abilities, Mallard never achieved commercial or critical success.
