Malcolm Gets





EARLY YEARS

Gets was born in Chicago, Illinois , but soon moved with his family to New Jersey . He lived there until he was five when his family moved to Gainesville, Florida .

Gets started studying performing arts early in life. He started studying piano at age nine. This skill helped him pay his way through college. He began singing lessons at 14. He also danced with a studio in Gainesville as a teenager.


Family

Gets is the son of Lisbeth, a special education teacher and school administrator, and Terence, a college textbook representative. Both parents grew up in London , England . He has an older brother, Eric; an older sister, Allison; and a younger sister.


Education

Gets skipped two years of K-12 education and graduated from Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida, at the age of 16. He then attended the University Of Florida , where he won Best Newcomer's Award in acting and earned a BFA in Theatre ( 1989 ). Following that he completed an MFA at the Yale Drama School .
