Maine Pyar Kiya was one of the most successful Bollywood movies of the 1980s and made Salman Khan a major star. This was the first film released under the Rajshri Films banner. STORY Country girl and schoolteacher Suman ( Bhagyashree ) visits a rich family living in a city mansion. The son of the house, playboy Prem, falls hard for Suman. Suman finally returns his affections. However, their families will not agree to the match and Suman returns to her village. Love-struck Prem leaves his family and follows her, but Suman's father won't agree to a marriage unless Prem proves that he can support a wife by his own efforts. Prem battles tremendous obstacles in his quest to make 2000 rupees a month. Then the villain who has been lurking in the wings makes his move and ... well, let's just say that the ending is a ''real'' cliffhanger. AWARDS ''Maine Pyar Kiya'' won four Filmfare awards in 1990, including Best Film for producer Tarachand Barjatya . Salman Khan was also nominated for Best Actor. |
