''Lucy Lastique'' is an adult Science-fiction Webcomic created by Cartoonist Jaxtraw. Running almost continually since April 2001 , ''Lucy Lastique'' chronicles the adventures of Lucy, a woman from the planet Fornix 8, and a core cast of characters. These include Lucy's initial companion (a Phalloid Alien called Todger), her twin sister (Pfuff), and Alienne (a huge alien queen whom Lucy was tricked into incubating). Although the story does not reveal the time in which it is set, the interstellar travel of its human characters seems to suggest a setting in the distant future. The strip is sexually explicit, but its emphasis is on Characterization , dialogue, and a complex Story Arc with full science-fiction credentials. The style of the story rapidly developed a dark edge that persists to this day, but it still frequently employs the Camp humor that marked its beginnings. Its tone is liberal and sexually positive, eschewing the stereotypes usual to mainstream Pornography , and frequently subverting the Trope s of the adult comic medium. Because "Lucy Lastique" is a fully-commercial comic which requires a monthly subscription to access, it stands somewhat apart from most of the Webcomic community. This community Genre typically generates free comic strips of varying quality, issued irregularly in single pages, and created by amateurs who are mainly dabbling as a hobby. All but the most popular are hosted on community sites, such as Comic Genesis (formerly "KeenSpace"), rather than on their own Domain s. ''Lucy Lastique''’s continued popularity suggests that the web-comic model, which maintains that comics on the web must be free to read and that web cartoonists should derive income from residual sources (advertising, merchandise, etc.), may be changing.
