Information About

Lucy Knight

Dr. John Carter soon became her mentor in the Emergency Room . Knight and Carter became close friends, and they had even become romantically involved, briefly.

At the end of Season 5, it was revealed that Lucy had been on a constant prescription for Ritalin ever since the fourth grade, due to a Hyperactivity disorder. She tried once to quit lay off her medication permanently, but couldn't manage to pay attention to her work, so she went back to taking it.

On February 14th , 2000 , a man with Schizophrenia was checked into the emergency room. While in a Delusion al state, the man acquired a Knife that was to be used to cut a Valentine's Day cake, and managed to stab both Knight and Dr. Carter. While Dr. Weaver and Dr. Corday were initially able to repair the damage to Knight's body, she soon developed complications, including a Pulmonary Embolus . Dr. Corday and Dr. Romano both tried to save her life, but Knight died while on the operating table, throwing Dr. Romano into a fit of rage.

Dr. Carter blamed himself for Knight's death. Her death, along with the pain caused by his own stab wounds, contributed to his Drug Abuse . After Carter's return from an Atlanta inpatient Rehabilitation clinic, Carter's grandmother begged him to leave the ER, saying that the place killed his friend Knight and nearly did the same to him. He refused, and eventually recovered from the trauma.
