is a fictional character from the
1978 ''
Battlestar Galactica ''
Television series. Lucifer was the robot assistant to
Count Baltar , and the character was voiced by
Jonathan Harris of ''
Lost In Space '' fame.
An I-L series
Cylon , Lucifer had an oval head, often wore red robes, and had two oscillating eyes, in contrast to the single eye of Cylon centurions.
Often sarcastic, Lucifer was assigned to Baltar by
Imperious Leader . Initially, Lucifer expressed enthusiasm for his assignment, stating that he could learn much from Baltar. However, as the series progressed, Lucifer began to see the flaws in Baltar’s military strategy.
Lucifer is newer model IL series Cylon, and views a similar looking Cylon, Specter, as an inferior version.
Lucifer is one of the characters from the original Battlestar Galactica series that has no analog in the
2003 reimagined ''
Battlestar Galactica ''. The only possible connection is that the introduction of Lucifer established that there was more than one model of Cylon android, which would be a major component of the 2003 series. As the IL-series commands Cylon Centurions, it can be considered that The Cylon gynoids are their analogs, and as advisor to Count Baltar, it can be considered that
Dr. Baltar 's ghostly
Number Six is Lucifer's analog. An unintended link with the naming of Gynoid #6, is the fact that ''666'' is the sign of the Devil, or Lucifer.
