Standard for a residential home in Germany is 7 litres heating oil for one square meter of room ''for heating'' annually. A low-energy house right now is considered less than half of that. That is a relative standard, of course, and will certainly change in the future. Already Passive House s and even Energy Plus House s are being built. Important notice is the underlaying climatical model for passive-house renderings. They assume temperature-lows of -10. This value is not low enough for some climatical-zones.
