Information AboutLouis' Lunch |
|
Louis' Lunch is a restaurant in New Haven famous for its hamburgers. The proprietors claim that Louis' Lunch was, in 1900, the first place in the United States to serve hamburgers as we know them today. The Library Of Congress has material apparently supporting this claim. The restaurant maintains a web page at http://www.louislunch.com/ The current location of Louis' Lunch is not the original location. It was originally located in a wagon, but is now at 263 Crown Street in New Haven. Louis' Lunch refuses to sell you a hamburger with ketchup or mustard. It's either cheese, tomato, or onion, or not at all. The Louis' Lunch hamburger is served on toast, not buns. |
