Martin was working for Crane Industries in the 1980s when he discovered that his boss, Alistair Crane , had been verbally, physically, and sexually abusing his wife, Katherine . Martin was forced to leave town by Alistair in the mid-1980s after helping him hide a body supposedly killed by Alistair's daughter, Sheridan. The two eventually returned to Harmony in 2004 .

Pilar was the head housekeeper at the Crane mansion (as well as Ivy Crane 's personal maid) when Martin disappeared, leaving her to take care of their five children. After Martin's disappearance, Pilar found that she could no longer support her four remaining children on her wage as the Crane maid. Pilar decided she could not leave her job with Ivy and opted to send her infant daughter, Paloma, to live with her sister, Maria, in Puerto Arena , Mexico . Pilar worked two jobs while Antonio looked after Luis, Theresa and Miguel for the next ten years.

He eventually fell in love with, and married, Sheridan ( 9 January 2003 - 24 June 2004 ; dissolved by his death), unaware that she was still in love with Luis. Antonio was killed on 24 June 2004 , when Alistair caused the Crane Jet to explode, believing that Sheridan was on board.

When Luis and Sheridan realized that Marty was their son, Beth fled the country with the help of her newly-discovered Father , Alistair, and Luis set off after her and Marty. Luis called Sheridan twice, once in August and once in September , before being Stabbed to death in Morocco .

Their daughter, Maria Ivy Lopez-Fitzgerald , was born as a result on July 21 , 2003 . Miguel left Harmony on July 26 , 2004 , to chase after Charity, who left town after realizing that she was coming in between Miguel and Maria.

Little Ethan is currently the Alistair's sole heir to the Crane empire, and Alistair plans on molding Little Ethan to follow in his footsteps.
