''Loonatics Unleashed'' is an Animated Series produced by Warner Bros. that is on Kids WB . ''Loonatics Unleashed'' debuted on September 17 , 2005 . The series is loosely based on the '' Looney Tunes '' cartoon characters, with the series described by Warner Bros. as an "action-comedy." ''Loonatics Unleashed'' is meant to be a mixture of the ''Looney Tunes'' shorts' irreverent style of humor and a modern action animated series, with the characters designed in an Anime style. The characters in ''Loonatics Unleashed'' were designed by '' for Hanna-Barbera and '' Mega Babies ''. PREMISE ''Loonatics Unleashed'' takes place in the year 2772 on the fictional city-planet of Acmetropolis. In that year a Meteor from space strikes Acmetropolis and knocks it completely off of its original axis. However, instead of destroying the planet, the impact of the Meteor and its resultant shockwave gives off supernatural cosmic energies that give some inhabitants superpowers while incapacitating others in its wake. Zodavia, a presumably very wealthy woman who is by most appearances the leader of Acmetropolis' ruling body (voiced by Candi Milo ) calls upon six of the affected residents that live in Acmetropolis to form a team of Superheroes to dispatch for the purpose of combating any and all threats to Acmetropolis and its citizens. The formed team is known as the Loonatics. These characters supposedly are the descendants of the classic ''Looney Tunes'' characters. Descendants of other looney tunes are unknown. The first five episodes of ''Loonatics Unleashed'' take place in 2772, the year that the meteor struck Acmetropolis. However, in the episode "The Comet Cometh," the city's citizens are celebrating the one year anniversary of the Loonatics' debut, which means that it can be assumed that the episode and all future episodes take place in the year 2773. Additionally, a mysterious character appears in the final moments of "The Comet Cometh" to state that the meteor's striking Acmetropolis in 2772 was not an incidental event but actually a deliberate attempt to destroy Acmetropolis, as was the larger second meteor that the episode involves. With the first attempt having the effects of the energy release and the Loonatics stopping the second attempt, the figure states that he plans to attack the planet a 3rd time sometime in the future, though he does not explain why he tried to destroy Acmetropolis twice before. Note: Although all Loonatics wear a black Jumpsuit , the major difference in color is noted by the triangle in the center of their chest and the color of their communicator on their arm. In the episode "The Comet Cometh," it is further revealed that the Loonatics, out of their costumes, are colored the same as their Looney Tunes ancestors. Also it is of note that Zodavia, while not an active member of the Loonatics, wears a black triangle in the center of her outfit. Their eyes glow brightly in times of battle, in the color similar to their individual suits. CHARACTERS The Loonatics and Villains are listed below: Loonatics The main characters of the series. In some episodes there are citizens of the city that resemble other Looney Tunes characters. Also in the ''"Weathering Heights"'' episode, when the Loonatics save a group of people on a monorail, an old lady (who looks like Granny ) says "I know their great, great, great grandfathers." She was referring the original characters of Looney Tunes. Villains Villains of the series include:

She steals the planet's Doppler radar system dish to create a device to shroud the entire planet in a permanent darkness. Along with this, Tech is kidnapped by Black Velvet to help her complete her task. The remaining Loonatics must rescue their teammate and stop Black Velvet. As the team prepares for the intercept mission, we see what each Loonatic did for a living just moments before the original meteor struck. When a child disappears and an investigation shows that the last place he was found was the circus, the Loonatics follow a strange monkey (unknown to them that it's really Zodavia who was also Ringmaster's victim) to the circus to see what they can dig up. However when the team gets to the circus they find that they are on the list to join the Ringmaster's menagerie. His goal is to use the robberies to make as much money as he possibly can. Meanwhile, the citizens and the Loonatics are getting ready for the championship game of a futuristic sport known as "basherball" (which resembles the Harry Potter series' game of Qudditch ) at the Acmetropolis World Dome. When Massive plots to steal the basherball championship trophy, the Loonatics head to the game to stop Massive's crime spree. ''Sypher'' (Original Airdate: November 26 , 2005 ) Sypher possesses the power to absorb the abilities of anyone that touches him, and decides he should be the one person getting the fame and glory of being a hero. After Zodavia assigns Lexi as the team leader and sends the Loonatics to stop a dam from bursting, Sypher battles the team and adds Lexi and Slam's powers to his. Danger assigns himself as the team leader while Tech creates suits that give the powerless Loonatics simulations of their powers, and make them resistant to Sypher. But in the ensuing confrontation, Sypher steals Tech and Danger's powers, resulting in a completely powerless Loonatics team forced to stop Sypher and get their powers back. Coyote for ruining her college experiments years before the meteor hit. ''Acmegeddon - Part I'' (Original Airdate: May 6 , 2006 ) ''Acmegeddon - Part II'' (Original Airdate: May 13 , 2006 ) CRITICISM ''Loonatics Unleashed'' generated much controversy among various animation fans for its reinterpretation of the classic ''Looney Tunes'' characters, even before its broadcast debut. Some fans find the concept, style and tone of the series distasteful, citing it to be a cheap "extreme" marketing ploy to appeal to a Demographic at the expense of the classic Warner Bros. characters. Others feel that ''Loonatics Unleashed'' is simply part of the ''Looney Tunes'' characters' continuing evolution in contemporary Pop Culture . After complaints about the original preproduction character models' appearances, including an Internet Petition of protest that was started by 11-year-old Thomas Adams, the producers of the series revised and softened the characters' appearances to make them appear less menacing. {Link without Title} In spite of these criticisms, the show has remained a consistent ratings winner, and has been confirmed on sites such as Toon Zone and others as returning for a second season on the Kids WB block. The show is also developing a cult following and a small but loyal fan base. EXTERNAL LINKS
