CAMPUSES Long Island University has three main Campus es and three "regional" campuses. Brooklyn The primary campus is in Downtown Brooklyn , New York. It was established in 1926 . The Brooklyn campus also hosts the Friends World Program , an international college of global studies. C.W. Post Campus The C.W. Post Campus is located in Brookville, New York on Long Island's north shore. The campus was established in 1954 . Southampton College Southampton College is located in Southampton, New York . It was founded in 1963 . As announced in June 2004, the undergraduate liberal arts and sciences programs of the Southampton campus will be relocating to the C.W. Post campus starting September 2005. In addition the Friends World Program , an international college of global studies, will be moved to the Brooklyn Campus. Graduate programs in English, writing, and education as well as a non-credit Continuing Education program will remain at the Southampton campus. The Southampton campus of Long Island University has been closed. REGIONAL CAMPUSES LIU also offers courses at "regional" campuses at Brentwood , Rockland County , and the Westchester Graduate Campus of Long Island University in Purchase, N.Y., Westchester County . The Westchester Graduate Campus of Long Island University The Westchester Graduate Campus of Long Island University, located in Purchase, New York, was established in 1975 as a regional extension of Long Island University, one of the largest private universities in the nation. Since its inception, the Campus has provided high quality programs in diverse disciplines that encourage independent thought and advance academic growth in a career-oriented environment. Each curriculum is designed to help the student acquire and refine professional skills, as well as to increase appreciation and understanding of cultural values. The academic quality of all programs is guided by the program directors and overseen by a distinguished faculty. The Westchester Graduate campus strives to meet the needs of adult graduate students who live or work in Westchester and the surrounding counties. This regional campus offers master degree programs and advanced certificates in the areas of Teacher Education, School Counseling, School Psychology, Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Library and Information Science. The Campus’ ongoing mission is to build upon its strengths, maintain and support programs at a high level of academic excellence, offer additional graduate programs to meet the needs of the region and encourage multicultural outreach to provide access to quality instruction to people from all backgrounds. The campus does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, national origin, religion, age, disability or sexual preference in any of its educational programs and activities, including employment practices and policies relating to recruitment and admission of students. The diverse faculty, strong and consistent governance, University-wide support, and the overwhelming enthusiasm of its students have contributed to and shaped the growth and supportive atmosphere of the Campus. Most Westchester Graduate Campus students are fully employed and attend evening classes, generally on a part-time basis. Year-round course schedules are designed to accommodate this student profile. Responsiveness to the academic and pragmatic needs of the student body is fundamental to the mission of the Campus. Central to the evolution of the Westchester Graduate Campus has been the consistent availability of a distinguished and seasoned faculty whose members enrich and challenge students. Many of the Campus’ faculty are real-world practitioners from the business, education and professional communities. Faculty are engaged in on-going scholarly activities consistent with the scholarship of teaching. They are active members and leaders of professional organizations who present at regional and national conferences, publish, and involve themselves in community outreach efforts. The Westchester Graduate Campus offers a variety of scholarships for courses offered at its Campus to qualified students and Westchester County residents. A special scholarship for the Purchase N.Y. community provides a reduction in tuition for graduates of colleges located in Purchase N.Y. The University also offers scholarships to qualified employees of Westchester County and the City of Yonkers.
