The Long Island Lighthouse is a complex that, if built, will surround the Nassau Colliseum . A petition is being created to build the lighthouse, after plans were created to build it. Sports Complex The sports complex at the Lighthouse will be state-of-the-art for years to come. It will serve as the Hofstra University medical research and training center, as well as the home of the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League , and the New York Islanders of the NHL . Instead of tearing down the Nassau Colliseum, this relatively small arena will be renovated and redesigned. There will also be public Basketball courts and other public benefits to the complex, as well as drawing many NCAA competeitions with their four NHL sized rinks. Residences/Hotels Residences will be built upon the Lighthouse's complex as well. There will be a main street, with a river through it. Mid-rise apartments will be built on either side of this river, and will attract revenue towards Long Island . At the bottom of the Lighthouse will be a hotel, which will offer restaurants, ballrooms and hotel facilities on Long Island. Above the hotel will be a select group of "Sky Condominiums". These condos will be appointed similarly to a luxurious hotel. Conference Center The Conference Center and Exhibition Hall will be large enough so that Long Island can attract convention and exposition business. The existing Exhibition Center will be completely renovated and expanded. A new Conference Center will be integrated with the upgraded Exhibition Hall to create a facility capable of hosting a broad range of events. Town Center This public performance and recreation space will feature acres of green space for outdoor concerts and events, super-scale video and projection systems. The Square will be ringed with outdoor cafes, interesting restaurants and small boutiques and shops making The Town Square at the Lighthouse the perfect place to entertain clients and a place to spend the day, watch a hockey game or catch a concert. |
