The G Stock was built for the Metropolitan District Railway in 1923 by Gloucester RC&W . These units were rebuilt in 1938, when the District Line was standardising its post-1923 stock, and reclassified as Q23 Stock. New Q38 Stock units were also built to the same design. Two driving motors have been preserved.
